Welcome to Jonesport, Maine

Jonesport Harborseals

A working seaport, Jonesport is the place to go if you want to see, smell, taste, and fully experience a fishing community. Enjoy a delicious lobster dinner and hear tales of the sea at the same time. Jonesport is a photographer's paradise. A working harbor with lobster boats, blueberry barrens along the main road (RT-187), wildlife sightings including deer, beaver, eagles, owls, and more.

Boat tours can be chartered at the pier for sightseeing of Machias Seal Island where you can see the fascinating puffins and the lighthouse. You will also likely spot plenty of razor billed auks, arctic terns, sea ducks, and seals.

The fishing community is also home to the U.S. Coast Guard Station Jonesport, located just before the Jonesport-Beals Island Bridge. During July 4th celebrations you won't want to miss the famous lobster boat races. You will be amazed at the speeds some of these vessels can reach.

Jonesport is located about 20 miles from Machias and 57 miles from Ellsworth.
